Today we celebrate the birth of Jesus, Son of God and Prince of Peace. How wonderful and uplifting today is for our hearts and souls!
Growing up being Catholic I sometimes find myself complacent with the importance of different calendar events. In our readings and gospel today, I am reminded that although God had worked miracles, sent many prophets, and cared for His people He changed everything by sending John first to foretell of Jesus’s coming. Today Jesus the King of kings is born, He is the Son of God! I love reflecting and being reminded of that and knowing the Holy Spirit was shared with me to be able to realize it. Had you been able to take some time this Advent and reflect on this awesome gift God gave us?
More than that celebration we understand this is the start of a new covenant with His people, a new song, so to speak. So much preparation for a newborn occurs, and admittedly I was never fully ready for any of my three children. Similar to an infant needing to be nurtured, cared for, and supported in development this new song of our relationship with God holds those same needs. Before today’s holiday with our families and loved ones we have prepared in many ways; feasts planned and cooked, gifts for others, trips to gather with family and loved ones, and in many other ways. During this Advent season, how have you prepared for today’s gift of Jesus? Were you able to strengthen your relationship with God?
When I reflect on this beautiful gift God provided in Jesus, I am drawn to share my relationship to others. Mostly that is in small ways, like this reflection. Yet especially today I am filled with excitement and drawn to share His love with others. Do you feel His love today? How can you share that with others?
I pray you all have a joyous day and are filled with His love and the Holy Spirit to share with others.
