As I reflect on the Third week of Advent, I am reminded of the great joy that is ours as followers of Jesus. Jesus will soon be here! Both of our readings and the Psalm reflect the great happiness that the coming of Jesus will bring to the entire world. We all wait in joyful anticipation. We open our hearts to the hope and promise that the birth of Jesus Christ will bring. The world is made new and our sins will be forgiven by our beloved Savior. All that was lost will be found once again and we can dare to dream of eternal life in Heaven!
Our Gospel reintroduces us to John the Baptist, who has come to clear the way for Jesus. John the Baptist warns us that we must make straight the paths to Jesus. We must remove all those things that keep us from having a loving and complete relationship with our Savior. Our relationship with Jesus should be the most important one of all. We are also called to be disciples of Jesus and bring others to know and love Jesus in the same way we do. With Jesus everything is possible!
In this terrible year, of 2020, we have faced the great fear of the pandemic, social isolation, anxiety and even death of our loved ones due to Covid. However, with our Lord Jesus Christ by our side, how can we be lost or give up? Loving Jesus and sharing our Faith through these difficult times is the only way to navigate this life.
As we light the rose candle, during this Advent season, we have the great hope of our Savior’s love and Mercy to guide us through all this uncertainty. Our Jesus is on this journey with us and will never leave us all alone. Have faith and share it especially during this beautiful season of God’s promise!
