Today is the second Sunday in Lent. Our readings today remind us that we need to always put our trust in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We have all experienced dark times in our lives. These are the times when we feel our Faith might not be strong enough to see us through this uncertainty. Perhaps we have received a frightening diagnosis, we are facing the loneliness of a lost loved one or our child is facing his next dangerous deployment. Now we are all praying for dear Ukraine, for their courageous people that God will protect them. These difficult times are when we need to place all of our trust in our beloved Jesus. We need to remember that nothing is too great for Jesus. Jesus will always meet us wherever we are. We walk this journey of life with Jesus at our side. We are never alone. Don’t be too hard
on yourselves either, when worry gets the best of you, which it does for me from time to time. Pray to Jesus for his
unending guidance and love.
During our Lenten journey, this year, let us all vow to stay strong in our Faith in Jesus. Look at the people that Jesus places in our lives every day. These people are sent by Jesus at exactly the right moment to give us exactly the right kind and caring word of support that we need. In turn, let us look for opportunities to be the friend that someone else needs. Let us carry the reminder of Jesus’ love to someone who is suffering with worry or doubt. It is all about this journey of life we are on, so this Lent let us be the bright light of Jesus for all around us. Maybe it is not so much about what we give up this Lent, but about what we do more of, like sharing God’s Grace and His Mercy with others. When we listen more closely to others’ needs, aren’t we really doing Jesus’ work? The more we listen to others or pray for others’ needs, the better we get at it and it becomes second nature to us. Now we are truly bringing the glory of God to all.
Another Lent and another chance to get it right. Let us pray for one another each day and share the love of Jesus with each person we encounter.
